Electric Dreams’ Human and Computer Duet

Monday, May 5th, 2008

One of the most unforgetable movie scene, the duet of Bach’s Minuet in G beween Madeline Robistat (Virginia Madsen) and the came-to-life Computer, Edgar. It was those early years of computer and internet when movie about coming-to-life computer was still an intriguing topic. I remember this scene and the theme song “together in electric dreams”.

Electric Dreams, it was 1984, gosh, it truly doesn’t seem so long ago (but yes, it has been more than 20 years now). There were movies like WarGames, ET, etc. I had an Apple computer with games like Taipan, Aztec, Karateka, etc. and I loved my friend’s Commodore that display games on TV monitor.

I am glad I managed to find this scene again. Thank you youtube.com. Beautiful music, beautiful sound of cello and beautiful Virginia Madsen.

“I think there’s a world market for about five computers.”

- Thomas J. Watson, chairman of the board of IBM.

Are you still laughing at this comment? I think ultimately there’s a world market for about five gaint computers, i.e. Google, Amazon, Yahoo, MSN and may be facebook or myspace.

No, I am not serious. ;-) Just having fun pondering future of internet.
