Pematang Pauh once more…

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Between Abdullah Badawi and Anwar Ibrahim, I prefer Abdullah Badawi.
Between UMNO and PKR, I don’t like UMNO but PKR is still too inexperience.

So which one? Vote candidate or party? If I were Pematang Pauh voter, based on candidate, I will choose Anwar Ibrahim, unless his opponent is Abdullah Badawi. Based on party, I will choose PKR and definitely not UMNO. Inexperience is ok, but money politics (if Mahathir was true) is rotten.

I believe Abdullah is a better and more moderate leader than Anwar. I know I can trust Wan Azizah but I don’t know if I can trust Anwar as a leader. But just for all the unfairness he received from Malaysia police and all packs of lies that spread against him, I wish him to win the by election.

If I were to rank the most suitable person to be Malaysia Prime Minister…

Number 1 - Wan Azizah
Number 2 - Abdullah Badawi (only if without UMNO)
Number 3 - Anwar Ibrahim

If I were to rank the most unsuitable person to be Malaysia Prime Minister…
Number 1 - Anyone from UMNO, except Abdullah Badawi
Number 2 - Abdullah Badawi (under UNMO)
Number 3 - Me

I think I have a strange political preference. For instance, between DAP and MCA, I would vote MCA only if under the leadership of Ong Ka Ting or Ong Tee Keat. I would vote DAP only if Lim Kit Siang is no longer at DAP. So now, among UMNO, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, DAP, PKR, PAS, etc. My ranking is

From Best to Worst:
1. MCA (only if under the leadership of Ong Ka Ting or Ong Tee Kiat. Reasons: Restricted terms for president, clean, 君子群而不党.)
2. PKR
3. Gerakan
4. PAS
5. -
6. DAP & MIC (reasons: strongmen leaders, i.e. Lim Kit Siang and Samy Vallu. Even with more than twenty years as party leaders still linger around. I believe strongman is bad for our society.)
7. UMNO (reasons: Pak Lah is good, but thank to 20-year of Mahathir’s regime, the party is rotten due to money politics. Like what Mahathir said, they are all yes man. He left out the part that they were trained this way under his regime.)

It was not always number 1 for MCA. Under the leadership of Ling Liong Sik, or that DVD scandal actor, I would rank it equivalent to DAP and MIC, that’s second last place.

If I have to choose among Mahathir, Ling Liong Sik, Samy Value and Lim Kit Siang, I would vote for my cat to be member of Parliment. It is really lucky for Malaysians that these 4 persons are either out or about to be out of Malaysia politics. We just need to make sure they will not come back, in the form of proxies.

With this, it is clear that let us hope Anwar will win this election.

Liar and the police arrest

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

The accusation is a lie. There was no sodomy. Leaked medical report confirmed that there is no evidence Anwar had sodomised Saiful.

Until today, the doctor stands by his report that there is no evidence Anwar had sodomised Saiful. He knows he is going to be made to pay for this but he doesn’t care. He is not going to change his report and say that Anwar sodomised Saiful whatever they do to him. Exasperated, the police had to release Anwar on personal bond or police bail. The doctor refuses to doctor his report and neither does Anwar want to volunteer his new specimen.
Malaysia-today.net

This false alarm case was handled by Serious Crime Division and 12 SWAT team members were sent to arrest Anwar without a concrete medical report. Our police intelligence is in serious questionable level.

Malaysian police arrested Anwar Ibrahim once more after ten years…

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Are we in military rule now?

I urge Malaysian police not to embarrass Malaysians once more. On 14 July, Malaysian Police sealed of Parliament and setting road block everywhere that caused a massive jams in Klang Valley. Their actions made no sense. It caused millions of people stuck in the morning traffic jams on their ways to work. Some stupid ministers said it was to prevent oppositions’ street demonstration.

What’s wrong with street demonstration, by the way? I don’t mind street demonstration though I would not join them. But I do mind stuck in the traffic that caused by my own government. Our government officers really need to learn how to set their priorities right. (send them for training with traveling allowances and good hotel foods as usual.)

While street demonstration would only affect a small part of the city, massive traffic jam on Monday affected almost everyone living in this city. Smooth traffic is more important than anything else. Got it?

Yesterday, Information Minister Ahmad Shabery launched personal attacks several times on Anwar Ibrahim in a debate entitled “Today we form the Government, tomorrow the fuel prices will go down”. (Can we sack this unprofessional officer?)

Today, Malaysian Police arrested Anwar Ibrahim, probably (not sure) on the same accusation that was used ten years ago.

What are the police going to accuse Anwar? Sodomy? Come on. You really think we are stupid?

This paragraph is from Radio Australia’s web site.

In 1998, Dr Anwar was sacked as deputy premier and jailed on sodomy and corruption allegations, which he maintains were politically motivated.

He was freed from prison in September, 2004, after six years in custody, when the country’s top court quashed his conviction and nine-year jail sentence for sodomy.

The same court later refused to hear a new appeal against his conviction and six-year sentence for corruption.

He has been barred from holding political office until this year.

He was freed by the court from the accusation of sodomy. There was no such accusation until recently when the opposition parties won 1/3 or more of parliament seats in the election and that he can now hold political office.

After the opposition crushed 2/3 majority of BN. We hear the same accusation again. The accusation is from some young chap who had photographs with three important BN’s ministers.

In Chinese, there is a proverb called “three men and tiger will become real”. It takes three men to repeat that there is a tiger on the street to convince you that there is indeed a tiger on the street. This means if you tell the same lie again and again, people may believe the lie.

So, for me, I really don’t believe the accusation. And I believe most people in the world don’t believe such accusation. I am not angry with people’s lies. I am angry that people think I will fall for their lies.

Police Malaysia must stop embarrassing themselves. Actually I don’t mind they embarrass themselves. But I do mind they embarrass Malaysia.

It is so lousy. Ok ok, I will vote for opposition for the first time next time.

Olympic games are about sports

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

It is our responsibility to say “keep politics away from Olympics”. Olympics is about Sport. Regardless how history shows endless men and women misused Olympics to pursue their ideologies, Olympics is about sport and it is our responsibility to ensure Olympics is about sport.

If we allow people to taint Olympics with political purposes, there will never be peace at future Olympics. Every future Olympic will be the event for more political pursues, more deaths, more chaos, etc. And we will become the one who open the floodgate. The only way to keep this sport event clean and pure for sports is to never let these people succeed in their political pursues through tainting Olympics.

So what do you think about torch protest?
I had a good laugh when I read the readers’ comments left at bbc.co.uk.

Paris Torch Protest

“The protesters can protest, but to use a fire extinguisher, jump on a former Blue Peter presenter and snatch the torch - that is barbaric. I can’t believe it.” Thomas, 11, Suffolk, England

“I think it’s fair that the protesters had their say, but they did kind of ruin it!” Victoria, 9, Dorset, England

“I think it is alright to protest about the torch. But DON’T hurt the people holding it, it is not right!” Emily, 10, Hull, England

“I think that people should protest because it is not fair that only a few people get a say in this. However, I also think that the protesters should respect the fact that it is a tradition and so should everyone else.” James, 10, Lincolnshire, England

“I think it is silly to take the torch off people because you could burn them.” Jordan, 7, Kent, England

These children who left the comments seem more sensible than those adults who harass the athletes.

We wish for Tibet’s Autonomy just like Hong Kong’s Autonomy…not independence, not misleading and vague word like “freedom” or “free something”. (what is freedom by the way? to be allowed to kill? to be allowed to rob torch from athletes.) (what is the meaning of “free Tibet”? are you asking for Tibet independence that will cause wars and lives? or are you asking for autonomy and less intervention?)

We want peace at Tibet not independence. We want Tibetans to live the way that they want and not independence. Following & trusting Dalai Lama’s words, we wish for true Tibet’s autonomy, just like Hong Kong autonomy for we also know independence will only bring wars and deaths to this beautiful land. We therefore want China, one day, to treat Tibet like they treat Hong Kong. At the same time we want a happy Olympic for sportmen and sportwomen to test the limit of human’s potential. We wish all athletes to have their unforgettable moments at Olympics. It is just so important.

If you are Westerners, you must know that Dalai Lama openly stated that he wants autonomy for Tibet and not independence.

We need to make Tibetans who live in Tibet to know that human rights does not attach with heavy price like chaos. They don’t have to fight and suffer in order to live the way they want. We can see that US’s democracy does not comes with death or chaos. They protest in the morning, have a nice picnic and go back home for lunch. Don’t let them convince us that we deserve a inferior version of freedom/democracy that such freedom/democracy comes with chaos and deaths. We must believe that we can protest in the morning, have a nice picnic and go back home for lunch and take a nap. Because we know if Tibetans continue conversations with Chinese government, build trusts between two parties, autonomy is possible. To preserve their ways of life is possible though difficult (unless you convert more Chinese back to Buddhism. This is the problem created by Carl Marx, another Westerner).

If you care about Tibet, don’t use the word freedom because it can be twisted by Western media to equate it with independence. Use the words “Peace and True Autonomy just like Hong Kong”. Be specific.

Back to basic principles

We believe we should not sacrifice today for tomorrow as much as we cannot enjoy today regardless of tomorrow. We must live today and have a better tomorrow. We should not create chaos today regardless what you want to achieve tomorrow.

Therefore it is wrong to kill now for future peace. Killing will never bring peace. Therefore it is wrong to start a war and create chaos in order to build a democracy world in future. Therefore Luke Skywalker threw away his lightsaber at the final moment with the Emperor. You cannot be in the dark side using the dark force and to bring light and justice to the world.
- Calvin’s Tiger from Coolheadwarmheart.com

Independence is a dirty word. It serves no meaning to anyone other than the persons who hold the power. Independence to politicians is as market niches to businessman. To create independence is to create a market niche for them.

We must have faith that there is no price to be paid for human rights. We can have human rights without sacrifice good life, peace and pursue for human being’s potential, Olympics. We must not sacrifice today for tomorrow for we can live to the fullest both today and tomorrow.

By the way, human rights coverage is so wide that we should be specific about it. Right to make a living, right to be free from fears, right to speak, right to be rich, right to be free from harms, right to love and to be loved, etc. We can have all, we must believe that. But of all the least important is freedom of speech. If you have the all other part of human rights, you really don’t need this freedom of speech.

If the price of human rights is death and chaos, can we trade the part of free speech for good life & prosperity? I can sell free speech right for good & happy family life, if you give me such limited options.

Freedom of press belongs to those who owned press. Freedom of speech in a happy and peaceful world is only important to those who wear warm cloth, eat well and has got nothing better to do.

Speak out is to have your verbal orgasm in public. You feel nice when you speak your piece of mind, but what do you get after such speech/mind orgasm?

However, I agree that it is good to have rights to free speech, though at times I really don’t know what to do with this right (while I have a reasonably enjoyable life, a cozy home and a close and warm family) other than writing a blog like this.

To fight and suffer for such freedom of speech? Nay.

On appointment of Perak Menteri Besar

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Perak ruler handled the extremely well despite the unexpected twists of event.

Right before decision for a new Menteri Besar, the Regent of Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah, met all three parties’ representatives to ensure the coalition is readied to lead a stable state government. He got three parties written statements in agreeing with all three nominees submitted to him for decision. In fact, all three parties made a joint statement agreeing the three names submitted to the royal.

Revealing this at a joint press conference, Ngeh said the names were submitted to Raja Nazrin Shah at Istana Kinta here at 2pm yesterday.

“All parties within the coalition have jointly agreed on the submission of the three names for his decision.”

“We would like to impress upon the people that all three parties have unanimously agreed to fully endorse whichever candidate is chosen,” he said at the Perak DAP headquarters.

Also present were state PKR chief Zulkifly Ibrahim, Mohammad Nizar and other DAP assemblymen.
the Star

Most importantly Regent of Perak chose the candidate based on ability to lead the state government; he chose the most qualified and most caliber candidate among the three.

After the Lim Kit Siang incident and the possibility of defection of coalition’s assemblymen to BN (that may distablize the government-to-be), Regent of Perak requested a letter of undertaking from all 31 opposition assemblymen indicating their support for the formation of the new DAP-PKR-PAS coalition government.

Regent of Perak has conducted the issue appropriately. He made all right moves.

Off course, we have an idiot called Lim Kit Siang and his knee jerk reaction on the selection. He was probably busying with his son appointment of Chief Minister in Penang feeling so proud as a father and just happened to be oblivious of the development in appointment of Perak MB. He cried foul for the selection of MB.

First, DAP did not win sufficient seats to either form a government by itself or with just PKR. DAP have to accept PAS in the coalition and have to accept PAS influence in the coalition. To say that democracy was not respected in the selection of MB is therefore untrue. DAP DID NOT WIN the mandate from the Rakyat in deciding MB. Rakyat only gave DAP 18 seats to be the majority among the coalition, but not more for DAP to decide outright who the MB should be.

Second, with such majority among the coalition parties, DAP (PKR 7 seats, PAS 6 seats and DAP 18 seats) could have pressured coalition to submit only two names, i.e. state DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham & state PKR treasurer Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi. But no. The coalition agreed to submit three names which included state PAS secretary Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin. If Lim Kiat Sian was unhappy, he should unhappy about himself of not doing what he should do at that point of time. The moment the names were given to Sultan for decision, it should be entirely and absolutely Sultan’s decision. The ruler had given time and options for the democracy process to work.

Third, the Sultan choice was obviously based on meritocracy. I am impressed wtih Nazir’s background. Isn’t this what DAP fighting for? Decision based on meritocracy instead of favourism or racism?

Among the coalition parties, we can see the weak link is DAP. PAS had served Kelantan for many years, they know how to act appropriately as a government. PKR leaders were from government. But for DAP…it is like a poor boy who strike lottery becoming instant rich, the challenge is to learn to act respectfully rich. Lim Kiat Siang forgot, for Perak State at least, DAP is not opposition. Together with others they are about to be government. It is not for him to shout, boycott and complain but sit down to work things out.

DAP under Lim Kit Siang is just so unpredictable. If one day the Barisan Rakyat broke down, most likely it comes from DAP’s infighting, inexperience and naiveness. (Hello, the role now is to manage and inspire the government officers to work hard and not complain and call for press conference making remarks, ok?)
