Adele’s Someone Like You

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

Not a particularly beautiful voice. But it is a mesmerizing song and her voice simply suits this song well.

Another video of the same song with a very different color tone. In blue.

Just piano music at the background. So nice.

Amy MacDonald: My Only One (Orchestral Version)

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

She wrote this for Michael Jackson.

This is particularly melodious due to the orchestra’s string family at the background.

My FB friends probably bored of all my links to Amy’s concert videos. :-)
But I just need to note this down in my blog and I will not forget this song.

Amy MacDonald’s concert at Luxemburg, 2010

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

How does it sound to mix classical orchestra and rock band together? Listen to Amy’s Luxemburg concert.

Last year, I walked passed a music shop at KLIA airport inside the departure area, I believe. I heard this song. I walked in looking for the CD and was told it was the last copy and it was not for sell. I note down the name of the song and the artist, it was “This is the life” by Amy MacDonald. After a while, I almost forgot her last name “MacDonald”, just remembered there was something called Amy or “Kentucky” something. :-)

It is not just the music, I actually like her lyrics like this one:

What Happiness Means To Me
Maybe in the start we would laugh
Maybe in the end we would cry
But I believe in every book I’ve ever read
And what you said

And the moon was in the sky
And the tears did fill my eyes
And the momories they all had passed
But in my head they’ll always last
And in the end before I could be
I’d shown the world
What it means to me
Believe it or not, I made them see
This is what happiness means to me

Will I ever see your face again
Will I ever touch your skin
I’ll never stop loving everything you do
But not me and you

And the moon was in the sky
And the tears did fill my eyes
And the memories they all had passed
But in my head they’ll always last
And in the end before I could be
I’d shown the world
What it means to me
Believe it or not, I made them see
This is what happiness means to me

And in the end, I made them see
This is what happiness means to me

Now I am watching, on youtube, a live performance of an orchestra concert in Sydney Opera House. It is performed by Youtube Orchestra. It is live, now, in Sydney Australia. If you are reading this, follow this link to watch Youtube Symphony Orchestra 2011.

Amazing, Unbelievable. The music is great, but the video connection is yet to improve.

The world is so small now.

Susan Boyle and Elaine Paige Duet

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

In her first appearance on Britain’s Got Talent, Susan Boyle said she want to be as successful as Elaine Paige. Now she is singing along side with her. Both have amazing voices. Amazing music. The song is “I know him so well” from the musical “Chess” composed by the two ABBA members, Benny and Bjorn.

Elaine Paige leads the first part, letting Susan to sing the part which is more suitable for lady voice. That makes Susan voice standout.

What makes Susan Boyle’s story so appealing is the feeling of so happy for her reaching her dream yet so sorry for her of the years she took and the could-be-her-life she missed as young famous star.

We all believe talent should not be wasted, not even a day. We all believe a talented person like her deserves to be on stage and to be famous at age of 18, and not to waste a minute older.

Electric Dreams’ Human and Computer Duet

Monday, May 5th, 2008

One of the most unforgetable movie scene, the duet of Bach’s Minuet in G beween Madeline Robistat (Virginia Madsen) and the came-to-life Computer, Edgar. It was those early years of computer and internet when movie about coming-to-life computer was still an intriguing topic. I remember this scene and the theme song “together in electric dreams”.

Electric Dreams, it was 1984, gosh, it truly doesn’t seem so long ago (but yes, it has been more than 20 years now). There were movies like WarGames, ET, etc. I had an Apple computer with games like Taipan, Aztec, Karateka, etc. and I loved my friend’s Commodore that display games on TV monitor.

I am glad I managed to find this scene again. Thank you youtube.com. Beautiful music, beautiful sound of cello and beautiful Virginia Madsen.

Rebecca Pidgeon’s You Need Me There

Monday, January 21st, 2008
Rebecca Pidgeon's The Raven   Is she still singing now?

I went through my old harddisk and found some of my favourite songs. After so many years, this song of Rebecca Pidgeon, “You need me there” in The Raven album is still so mesmerizing.

From Wiki, she married to David Mamet, have children and more of an actor than singer/song writer now. (Too bad for me, I love her voice and her choice of music.)

Well, off course, all the best to her.
